Chapter 22: Supported Databases & Versions
Info: SQLOZ currently ships connectors for MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and SQLite. Tested versions are separate from feature capability thresholds.
22.1 Connection support
The connection editor exposes MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQLite. Choose the MySQL profile family for MariaDB; SQLOZ identifies MariaDB from the server version after connection. MSSQL, Oracle, Redis, and MongoDB are not connection families in this release.
22.2 Tested matrix
| Family | Versions tested by this release | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| MySQL | 8.0, 8.4 | Tested matrix |
| MariaDB | 10.6, 11.4 | Tested matrix |
| PostgreSQL | 16 | Tested matrix |
| SQLite | System SQLite in the macOS build | Local driver tests |
These are tested versions, not connection minimums. There is no single global old-server rejection. A parseable server version can connect; capabilities are detected per session and remain conservative when a version gate or probe does not pass.
22.3 Capability thresholds
Examples: MySQL online DDL 5.6+, generated columns 5.7+, JSON 5.7.8+, index visibility 8.0+, descending indexes 8.0.11+, and EXPLAIN ANALYZE 8.0.18+. MariaDB thresholds range from 10.1+ for EXPLAIN ANALYZE to 10.8+ for descending indexes. PostgreSQL gates window functions/CTEs at 8.4+, JSON at 9.4+, and generated columns at 12+. SQLite gates CTEs at 3.8.3+, JSON at 3.9+, window functions at 3.25+, and generated columns at 3.31+.
If a probe fails or the probe budget expires, the feature remains unavailable. An unavailable capability is not evidence that the server is unhealthy.
