13.2 Common Errors & Solutions
1. Can't connect to MySQL server (Connection refused)
- Cause: The MySQL server is down, or external access to port
3306is blocked. - Solution: Enable the SSH Tunnel or HTTP PHP Tunnel option in the connection settings. See Chapter 2 for configuration details.
2. Access denied for user 'root'@'...'
- Cause: The password is wrong, or remote-IP privileges have not been granted on the server.
- Solution: Check the password and grant only the minimum privilege required for the selected database and operation. For example, a read-only analyst may need:
GRANT SELECT ON `database_name`.* TO 'user'@'trusted-host';
Warning: Avoid broad
*.*grants and unrestricted'%'hosts in production; use a dedicated account, a specific host or network range, and the smallest required privilege set.
