SQLOZ
🌲 ORIGIN STORY & ENGINEERING PHILOSOPHY

Crafted from 30 Years in the Trenches

SQLOZ did not begin as a pitch deck or a venture-backed growth experiment. It was born from the personal necessity of a veteran database architect who spent three decades wrestling with midnight production deadlocks, memory-leaking Electron clients, and the terrifying split-second of executing unconstrained queries.

Not a Startup Experiment. A Personal Survival Tool.

SQLOZ did not emerge from a boardroom asking how to "disrupt" developer tooling. It came from the raw, unglamorous reality of living with production databases for 30 years - typing DELETE with trembling hands at 3:00 AM on a customer-facing cluster, struggling to untangle complex deadlock graphs from a flat, monochrome processlist, and jumping between four different half-baked database clients just to complete a single day's work.

Chapter I

An Unlikely Origin: Forestry Engineering and Holistic Systems

This engineering journey began in an unconventional discipline: Forestry Engineering.

It was there that the foundational mindset took root - learning to see large-scale systems not as isolated trees, but as complex living ecosystems. In an old-growth forest, a tree does not survive alone; its health is inextricably tied to deep root networks, mycorrhizal fungi, soil moisture, and atmospheric cycles.

Decades later, that same ecological intuition proved invaluable when diagnosing high-concurrency database clusters. A stalled connection or an escalating lock escalation is never an isolated symptom. It is an imbalance in a living transactional ecosystem - buffer pool churn, dirty page flushes, WAL serialization, and lock dependency trees all interacting simultaneously.

Chapter II

The Fusion of Engineering and Visual Craftsmanship

Following systems ecology, the path returned to deep software roots at Anadolu University, completing rigorous curricula in Computer Programming followed by Web Design & Coding. This duality bridge the gap between low-level backend engineering and refined user interface architecture.

During this period, achieving official Adobe Certified Expert (ACE - Design & Web Master) credentials and leading regional Adobe User Groups instilled an uncompromising appreciation for visual ergonomics, typography, micro-interactions, and visual harmony.

"Three universities, three perspectives: one taught systemic thinking, the others imparted technical rigor and visual craftsmanship."

That craftsmanship is visible across every pixel of SQLOZ. A database tool does not have to look like an intimidating 1990s accounting ledger; it can be as fluid, intuitive, and enjoyable as the finest native macOS creative software.

Chapter III

The Frustration with Fragmented Tools

Over thirty years of consulting and hands-on DBA operations, the market’s tools consistently fell short:

  • Heavy Java/Electron memory hogs: Tools consuming 2GB of RAM just to view a single table, stuttering at 30fps while spinning Mac laptop fans.
  • Fragmented enterprise lock-ins: Schema comparison locked in one expensive tool, live PII data masking locked behind enterprise sales quotes, zero-downtime migrations forcing teams into complicated CLI scripts.
  • Alien user experiences: Clunky cross-platform UI toolkits that completely ignore macOS human interface conventions, keyboard shortcuts, and native accessibility.

SQLOZ is the definitive answer to that fragmentation: Everything a veteran DBA truly needs, united under one roof, engineered purely in native Swift & AppKit for Apple Silicon.

The Mission

Peace of Mind for Fellow Database Engineers

Building SQLOZ was never about chasing venture valuations or enterprise sales targets.

The true purpose was deeply human: to ensure that no fellow DBA or backend engineer ever has to endure the sleepless panic attacks, the terrifying unconstrained queries, or the dread of locked production tables. To look over and see a colleague working at their screen with peace of mind, confidence, safety, and genuine enjoyment.

That is why we refuse enterprise pricing. See the current App Store price and subscription terms for access to the complete professional DBA toolkit across your Apple ID devices.
